Preserve Their Life Story, Before It's Too Late
A PROFESSIONAL INTERVIEW THAT BECOMES A FAMILY HEIRLOOM

The Human Experiences Legacies transforms cherished memories into timeless heirlooms through intimate, professionally conducted interviews. We capture the stories that define your family—the wisdom, humor, and moments that matter most—and craft them into a beautifully curated narrative designed to be treasured for generations.

This is more than documentation; it's the art of legacy. Through thoughtful conversation, we draw out the essential stories your loved ones will want to revisit again and again, creating an irreplaceable family treasure that transcends time.

The What

Interested in booking with me? Reach out via my contact form, or book a consultation call.

Once you’ve confirmed booking by paying your deposit, we will set up a 60 minute Video call to talk details. This is where I’ll learn a bit more about your “why” for booking and what you hope to get out of this beautiful keepsake.

On the agreed upon date, I will come to a space of your choosing (home, office, etc.) to do an in-person, audio interview.

Within 30 days, you will have a priceless heirloom to share with your loved ones. An audio story to share with generations to come, and a keepsake book with the transcription of the interview with pictures.

The How

Growing up, I was captivated by my grandfathers' tales—two men so different in upbringing and personality, both masterful storytellers. Their voices shaped who I am. Now that they're gone, I'm grateful for every story they shard, yet acutely aware of what's been lost. We can never truly anticipate the weight of that absence until we feel it.

While nothing replaces a person's presence, we can preserve what they leave behind. The Human Experiences Legacies ensures that the voices, wisdom, and narratives that define your family endure—not as distant memories, but as living treasures you can return to, again and again.

Stories are fundamental to what makes us human—they connect us across cultures and generations, and anchor our sense of belonging. The Human Experience was born from a deeply personal understanding: the irreplaceable value of a loved one's voice and the stories only they can tell.

The Why

On Being Interviewed...

”I met with Jennifer Peterkin…it was my first and likely only experience being interviewed in person. The interview was fantastic. Having a real person with real-time gestures and body language, the intangibles for human interactions, provided a comfortable environment for a seamless conversation.”

- Richard Hsung

”Jennifer has an ability to listen deeply and ask pertinent questions. I admire her presence and care.”

- Cheryl Wilder

”During our conversation, I was continually drawn to Jennifer’s care and compassion for the work she is doing. She is truly a faithful collector of stories who interviews humans from all walks of life.”

- Bruce McIntyre

Gift Forever

Many of us don't tell our stories because we believe others don't want to hear them. Often, it's only after we're gone that we realize the voices we've lost. Make sure that your loved one has the opportunity to tell their stories, and create an heirloom for generations to come.

ONE PURCHASE, GENERATIONS OF MEMORIES

Why does the interview have to be in person?

I've never conducted a remote interview. Here's why:

People share things face-to-face they don’t over video. Vulnerability requires presence. In-person also means superior audio quality (no dropouts, no compression), no technology barriers for elderly subjects, and I capture the full context — pauses, body language, the moment before they answer.

In-person requires more coordination, but 20 years from now, you'll be grateful it was done right.

What are the requirements for doing an interview?

The only real requirements are that

  1. Your loved one is willing and able to participate. If they can hold a conversation, they can do this.

  2. The interview is conducted in English. (I don't currently offer translation services.)

  3. You have a quiet, comfortable space for the interview. This could be their home, your home, or another location where they feel at ease.

No special equipment needed. No technical setup. Just a willingness to share their story.

How Long Does It Take & What’s Included?

Once we’ve agreed on a date to record you are entitled to:

  • One 60 minute introductory video-call where we will talk about your “why” for purchasing this once-in-a-lifetime keepsake, and how we can best capture those special memories.

  • A sit-down, in-person interview in a space of your choosing, for up to 4 hours.

Within 30 days after the interview, your completed heirloom will be shipped to you.

If you're outside this radius, reach out anyway — I occasionally make exceptions for special circumstances or if I'm already traveling to your area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will they actually open up?

I’ve found that even the quietest people share when they feel truly heard. After traveling the world conducting life-story interviews, I've learned this: it's not about the questions — it's about creating the right conditions for vulnerability.

If your loved one can have a conversation, they can do this. And you'll be amazed at what emerges.

How do I bring this up with them without making it feel like 'the end'?

This is a celebration, not a farewell:

Most people are honored when asked. They worry their stories don't matter — and you're telling them they do. If you're nervous about the conversation, we can talk it through during your consultation call.

Can I be present during the interview?

It depends on what will create the best environment for your loved one.

Some people are more open when it's just them and me — they feel less self-conscious, less worried about how they're being perceived by family. Others feel more comfortable with a familiar face in the room.

During our consultation call, we'll discuss what makes the most sense for your specific situation. The goal is always the same: create the conditions where the best, most honest stories emerge.

Can I give this as a gift?

Absolutely — and it's one of the most meaningful gifts you can give.

• Milestone birthdays (70th, 75th, 80th)

• Anniversaries

• Mother's Day / Father's Day

• Retirement celebrations

• 'Just because' — before time runs out

I offer gift certificates that beautifully explain the experience without giving away all the details. You can present it however feels right — a card, a conversation, a family gathering.

How do I get started?

Fill out the contact form or book a consultation call. We'll have a 30-minute conversation about your loved one and what you hope to capture — no pressure, just a genuine conversation about whether this is right for you.
